Tales From Akaa Falls
Spontaneous trips are fun sometimes (most times for me) right? Alright so I woke up healthy in bed this beautiful Saturday morning – surfing the internet when I received a call from Yaw(Remember the pictures from the chalewote festival? Yes he shot them) who filled me in with a trip to Akaa falls in the next hour. I had no schedule for the day and being the typical travel junkie I am, I couldn’t opt out.
Met up with Yaw, Bobbie and Nana the squad with whom I was gonna spend the next 7hours with seeking adventure in Yilo Krobo. From Accra, Akaa falls is two and half hours drive and 3km drive from Boti falls. Didn’t really find this trip much of an adventure since we didn’t indulge in any long hike compared to Wli waterfalls. Akaa falls is only a 7minutes walk from the Reception same distance when you visit Boti falls. It’s a very pretty place with beautiful scenery and an awesome rock formation.
Upon arrival, we were the only four at the falls – the day you visit and month counts sometimes. It’s a Friday and since we’re still not out of the harmattan season, expect to see very little to no water fall and a decrease in tourists. I usually don’t go to any water fall and leave without getting wet but this time I did – there’s always a first time. I think the perfect time to visit the falls will be in right after the raining season.
