Asantehene(King of the Ashanti) is the ruler of the Ashanti people and the Ashanti land, a position of great power. The Asantehemaa on the other hand is the Queen mother of the Asante kingdom and also the pillar of strength and a source of wisdom behind the Asantehene.
The current Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II passed away in November, 2016. A week long burial rites of the late Asantehemaa, was held last week and here are some exclusive pictures from the funeral ground in Manhyia displaying the rich Ashanti culture shared by Yaw Pare of Random Ghana pics who was present at the event throughout the week.
