Accra is the capital of Ghana and also the largest city. Night life in Accra is quite fun during weekends and holidays with Osu by far being the liveliest part of Accra for entertainment. Many of Accra’s best nightclubs and bars can be found here. Here are some of the night standout venues that I recommend.

Republic Bar and Grill

The republic bar remains one of the most happening bars in Accra right now, thanks to its relaxed, music-forward approach to the good things in life: alcohol, fried food and really great music. It’s a tiny space that tumbles out onto the street when things really kick off late on a Friday or Saturday.

A chic lounge bar with well-mixed cocktails and one of the best selections of tapas in Ghana. Busiest on Friday and Saturdays when a DJ spins on the decks and regulars cut some shapes among the packed crowds.

Raggae night at Labadi beach

Every Wednesday, people go to Labadi beach for the great Reggae Night. Live bands and DJ entertain the whole night a crazy party on the beach where everything can happen. Lots of people get drunk and high but it nevertheless remains quiet and safe. Entrance fee is Ghs10

Shisha lounge

A beautiful outdoor area complete with tree house style upper level. Wood fired pizzas are on the menu and the bar comes alive at night with a great club vibe inside the air conditioned bar area. If you love smoking shisha, then this is the place to be! I bet you’re going to love the night life in Accra.

Salsa  Wednesday at Afrikiko leisure center

The known place to dance salsa in accra on a Wednesday night. There is a nice ambient and if you do not know how to dance, many people would be able to teach you. It’s located at Kanda around tv3.

Mint night club

Takes over Yasmina’s restaurant every weekend to bring you one of the hottest club nights in Accra. It’s located at the marina mall around the Accra airport.

Plot 7

Located in Nyaniba estate Osu, Plot Seven sets the stage for the ultimate nightlife experience. Plot Seven features a variety of music formats during its six weekly night, from Tuesday – Sunday.

+233 Jazz Club

Vienna city

Salsa Saturdays at Paloma

Get your dancing shoes on and head straight to the paloma hotel at silver cup, in between the hours of 8pm-12am for the best salsa experience in Accra.

Duplex Nightclub

Located on the street behind Lizzie’s in Osu (take second right after Frankie’s if coming from Danquah Circle then take first left), Duplex recently moved from its old spot behind Papaye and is bigger, louder and better than before. Big dance floor, always packed, attracts a mixed crowd.

Rockstones Office

This bar is owned by ‘Godfather of Hiplife’ Reggie Rockstone, who has created a kind of hip hop casual environment. There’s a relaxed outside terrace and often live music on Wednesdays. At weekends booming hiplife carrying the crowd through to 6am.

His Majesty’s Nightclub & Casino

The night club is frequented by a young, affluent Ghanaian crowd. The casino offers roulette, black jack, poker, free entrance. Membership for night club available for a fee.Saturday caters for a slightly more mature crowd with funk and Old Skool. Also doubles as a hotel, so you can book a room if you are too tired to go back home. Located opposite the Trade Fair grounds near Labadi Beach.

These are my picks for places to have an amazing night life in Accra, comment any place you’ve experienced a great night life in Accra and feel it should be part of the list for an update. Have fun.
